When someone we love has died, there is a basic human need to gather, to share stories, to cry, and to laugh together. I work with families to design celebrations of life, memorial services, and funerals that honour your loved ones in ways that are meaningful to you. You are always the final decision-maker about what happens in the service.
Non-religious
You take the lead on what should happen in the celebration of life. I can provide suggestions if you wish. For example, who will speak and in what order? Will there be music and if so, what will it be? Will there be readings or reflections? On the day of the service, I guide the event so that you can enter into it without worrying about details.
Spiritual but not religious
We discuss what spirituality means to you or the person who has passed away. In light of that, we assemble appropriate readings, reflections, music, prayers, and other parts of the service. If you would like suggestions, I can provide them. On the day of the celebration of life, I guide the event so that you can enter into it without worrying about details.
Religious
If you or your loved one has a faith background that you want represented in the funeral, we explore that together. There may be an order of service that you want to use. Perhaps you have no particular form in mind, but you know that you want something religious. We can build the service together. In addition, I am an ordained Anglican priest and can lead a service based on that tradition if you wish.
